I sold my house but I’m renting back for a month. Am I still covered in the house I no longer own?

The first thing you should do is call us. Each company has a slightly different way of handling this situation. Some insurance carriers will allow you to keep your current home insurance active until you move, even though the house has been sold. Your belongings and personal liability coverage will continue without change but there will be no coverage for the dwelling.

But some carriers will not make this allowance. In those cases you will need to purchase renter’s insurance. We will help you set up a renter’s insurance policy if needed. If you’ll be renting at a new location after you move, your new renter’s insurance policy will move with you.

Moving presents some interesting insurance situations, so if you’re moving please call us to ask any question about coverage – no matter how strange you think it sounds! Call us at 800.681.2025, or click here to check our site.
